Chapter One: A Disturbed Peace

Filia looked at the door of her shop, waiting patiently.

"Only a few more hours..."

Sighing to herself, Filia walked to where baby Valgaarv slept and looked at his peaceful face. Seeing him sleeping so soundly, old memories of her previous adventure came to mind. She had pitied Valgaarv then, feeling shame and remorse for the sins committed by her race. Sins that couldn't be corrected...

"My my, isn't today a gloomy day..."

A familiar voice startled her. Filia turned around and saw the same old trickster priest who could always dwell up anger inside her, Xellos Metallium the general priest mazoku.

"Namagomi..."

"So how are we feeling today, Filia-chan?"

"I told you to stop calling me that!!"

"Yare yare, still the same..."

"What are you doing here?"

Xellos looked at her with his eyes open, looking at her seriously. Staring back at the unhuman amethyst eyes, Filia felt a little frightened by the way he gazed at her, yet she couldn't tear away from his face...

"Do you sense something peculiar lately? Call it intuition, but I have a feeling a new adventure is calling us..."

"Peculiar in what way?"

Before he could answer, the door was blasted to pieces as the Lina-tachi came crashing in.

"FILIA!! OHAYO!! Long time no see!!" Lina exclaimed as Gourry, Zelgadis, and Amelia made their way toward her.

"Ara? Xellos's here too?" As the group looked around, not a speck of broken pottery was found. The shop was in an unusually clean state and not a single damage was shown.

"Eh? Since when you two can stay in the same room and not fight?" Amelia asked.

"Awwwww... am I missing something here?" Lina teased Filia, who was blushing madly by then.

"IT'S NOT LIKE WHAT YOU THINK!!"

"It's exactly like what you think." Xellos put an arm around Filia, grinnng widely, causing her tail to pop out as she whipped her mace from under her skirt in a swift moment. Trying to hit Xellos with it but failed, Filia's anger rose up.

"I shouldn't have said that so soon, shouldn't I?" Lina asked as she looked at the two fighting.

With all the commotion going on, baby Valgaarv awoke and began crying, in the front, where everyone was. Seeing her foster son wailing, Filia stopped in her mid-battle and try to comfort him.

"There, there...be a good boy and stop crying, ok?"

At that moment, Jiras came rushing in with a letter in hand.

"Filia-neechan! I've just received this letter, it's addressed to you!"

"Who is it from?"

"I don't know. I didn't read all of it yet, but it has weird writing in it. I can't tell if it's a riddle or just--"

"YOU'VE BEEN READING MY MAIL AGAIN?!"

Jiras backed up in the corner as he stared up at the angry dragon maiden.

"Oops..."

"Why are you so angry with him for just reading your mail?" Amelia inquired, looking at Filia strangely.

"Is there some particular mail from someone you don't want others to know...?" Lina asked her, giving Filia an evil grin that caused her to show her tail again.

"Quit that! There's no secret! It's just that I think that people should respect each other's privacy!"

"...well? Are you going to open it or not?" Zelgadis asked her.

Filia opened the letter and started reading. Frowning at it, she passed the letter to Lina who began reading it, along with the rest of the group.

" hiden citi of godl
lay a sigle untouchd tresure
cary all 3 status
were history repets itsefl
a unque ligt will chine out
and direct the wya to distruction
forbiden magic wil be learne and ussed
to fufil the most sacrad wish
were darness rule the ladn..."

"What is that supposed to mean?"

"I don't know. But whoever wrote this is really lacking in spelling skills..." Xellos pointed out.

"Not to mention the grammar's terrible..."

Filia read the letter again and thought deeply. ...hidden city of gold... lay a single untouched treasure...

"Hidden city of gold.. that's it! It's Zelfy City!"

"Zelfy City? What's that?"

"It a city on the top of one of the highest hills in this world. When the sun rise, it's light reflected on the buildings of that city and made everything looks like gold... It was once ruled by Golden dragons, but many moved out for some reason..."

"But in the letter it says hidden...?"

"It's because not many were able to find that place. Yes, it has to be that one."

"So, another adventure's waiting for us, ne?" Lina commented.

As Lina turned around to the group, she'd noticed Xellos was gone again.

"Oh well...he'll pop up to bother us again in the adventure..."

* * * * * *

Far and away in Wolf Pack Island, Xellos was kneeling down in front of Greater Beast Xellas, his master.

"Yes. I understand, Jou-ou-sama." With that, Xellos teleported away.

Xellas looked ahead, deep in thought.

"Hmmm..now this is going to be interesting..." She said, smiling to herself.
